


Expedition of Graduate Students in the Southern Georgia
On August 9-16, 2010 a group of graduate students from Ilia State University participated in an expedition, which was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Paata Bukhrashvili. Students who are working in the field of Caucas studies intend to conduct research on the local traditions and customs (Dmanisi, Meskhet-Javakheti region) of the Southern Georgia.
During the one week course, graduate students visited the following architectural monuments: former settlement in Dmanisi, Vardzia, Tmogvi Castle, Khertvisi, St. George Church in Dashbash (built by Liparit Eristavi in 11-12 cc.), Kumurdo Church (964 AD) etc. and studied structure of traditional local relations. Results of the expedition will be presented in more detail during a scientific conference in September.
