European Week in Tbilisi 2011

From May 25 to 30, Ilia State University hosted a cycle of activities within the framework of “European Week in Tbilisi 2011” organized by Europe House Georgia.

The European week was started with a public lecture titled “Language and nations in Europe: Two Models” by Professor Patrik Seriot.  Afterwards, Professor Patrick Michael delivered a public lecture on “About Religion and Composition in the Modern World”. 

Several public debates were organized, particularly: “Multiculturalism and Nation-Building: Role of Minorities”, “ Caucasus Between War and Peace, Security Challenges facing to South Caucasus : The Role of NATO, EU and Russia” and “Social Enterprise” . 

In addition, ISU hosted a presentation of the Georgian translation of “The Black Book of Communism”. 

The International bestseller “The Black Book of Communism-Crimes, Terror, Hunger and Torture” is a French book which describes the history of repressions by Communist States. The book was originally published in 1997, France. The Black Book of Communism has been translated into many languages. Ilia State University Press has translated and published the book in Georgian language within the framework of the program in Soviet and Post-Soviet Research Studies.

The European week was closed on May 30.
