Enhancement of Biostatistics Education Doctoral Program in Public Health: Collaboration between Ilia State University and Yale University

Yale University, which is one of the oldest Ivy League universities in the United States, boasting a rich history spanning 300 years embarks on a collaborative endeavor between Ilia University and Yale University, made possible through a 5-year project funded by Fogarty International and the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH).

To mark the project's commencement, esteemed Yale University professors, Dr. Frederick Altice (Doctor of Medicine and Epidemiology) and Dr. Denise Esserman (professor of Biostatistics, Yale Center for Analytical Sciences), visited Ilia University and held meetings with Ilia State University Rector, Professor Nino Doborjginidze, Dean of Faculty of Natural Sciences and Medicine, Professor Elene Zhuravliova s well as administration and faculty representatives. 

This collaboration is another result of the longstanding professional relationships cultivated by Ilia University professors, Irma Kirtadze and David Otiashvili, in collaboration with Professor Altice.

The project's objective is to facilitate the training of four university professors and six doctoral studies from public health at Yale University in the fields of biostatistics and implementation science.

Additionally, the project will host an annual summer booth camp where individuals employed in the public health sector can deepen their knowledge and skills in biostatistics.
