Discussion on Amendments to be made in the Law on Education
With the initiative of the professors and employees of several universities the extended discussion was held about the expected amendments in the Law on Education. The representatives of TSU, Ilia State University, Free University, University of Agriculture, Georgian-American University, and Caucasus University attended the meeting.
The meeting was opened by the acting rector of Tbilisi State University TSU Sandro Kvitashvili. Davit Tarkhnishvili the professor of the live sciences at Ilia State University did the review about the amendments initiated by the Ministry.
As the result of the discussion the common position about the main topics was exposed. In the near future the representatives of different universities will address the parliament to stop the reception of the proposal (the bill is discussed in the hasten manner) and to stop the development of amendments related to the academic sphere independently from the universities. In the frames of this topic other events are also planned.
