 Translation of Bruno Latour’s book We Have Never Been Modern

S. Tsereteli Institute for Philosophy at Ilia State Univeristy published a translation of Bruno Latour’s book We Have Never Been Modern. Translation is the first book of the series Philosophical Library. Text was translated from French by Elene Ladaria. Ms. Ladaria with the Director of the Institute for Philosophy, Prof. Tamar Tsopurashvili presented the book. Presentation of the book for academia and wider audience was held on July 15, 2014 in Ligamus bookstore. During presentation there was discussed Latour’s place and role as an author in contemporary debates, as well as main concepts of the book, his criticism of dualistic distinction that is characteristic to modernity. It is simply impossibly to analyze science, diseases, biotechnology and political matter distinctly in contemporary world to understand a situation.

Translation of Julia Kristeva’s book Hannah Arendt: Life is a Narrative

There was another publication of translation Julia Kristeva’s Hannah Arendt: Life is a Narrative organized by S. Tsereteli Institute for Philosophy. Translation is the second book of the series Philosophical Library. Book was translated by Tamar Onoprienko. Presentation of the book was held on July 16, 2014 in Ligamus bookstore. Translation was presented for the academia and the wider audience by translator – Tamar Onoprienko, Editor – Luka Nakhutsrishvili and the Director of the Institute for Philosphy, Prof. Tamar Tsopurashvili. This volume is based on the series of Alexander Lectures Prof. Kristeva delivered at the University of Toronto. Translation of the book is significant, as there is examined and specified Arendt’s understanding of self, body, political space, life and other key concepts. There was also discussed Kristeva’s and Arendt’s importance and role as female philosophers.
