Blood Donation Day at Iliauni
On January 25, in frames of the project “Elder Friend” which is financed by Unaided Nations Association and Ministry of Justice, with support from Red Cross Georgia and The Centre for Supporting Children with Leukemia at the Iashvili Children’s Central Hospital ISU held “Blood Donation Day”. The aim group of the action was children with leukemia who need up to 21 liters of blood transfusion per month.
According to the organizers of the event, at Ilia State University on the “Blood Donation Day” unprecedented number of donors expressed the will to deliver blood in comparison with other similar events. But to consider the fact that only one station for delivery was open only 66 volunteers managed to become blood donors. Among them were students, employees of ISU administration, professors and ordinary citizens, who learned about this event from social networks.
Especially for participating in this event several people came from regions. It was mentioned in the Centre for Children with Leukemia that with collected amount of blood they will be able to help up to 30 children and they thank ISU and Rustaveli Cinema, who gave cinema tickets to every participant.
