“Biodiversity of Alpine Soils”

On October 18, 2010 the international conference “Biodiversity of Alpine Soils” was organized as a result of an initiative of the Institute of Zoology, Ilia State University. Financial support for the project was provided by the Georgia National Science Foundation. 

During the conference participants discussed the following topics: “Structure of Soil Inhabitants”, “Influence of Anthropogenic Factors”, “Population Dynamics”, “Rehabilitation of Alpine Pastures” etc. The following speakers delivered the papers: Prof. Mzia Kokhia (Ilia State University), Prof. Ivan Hadrian Touche (University of Czech Republic), Marat Tsitskishvili (President of the Academy of Ecology) and representatives of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Institute of Plant Protection. In addition, PhD students from the Ilia State University and Sokhumi University also participated in the conference.
