Best Georgian Novel 2009-2010

The Ilia State University Literary Award for the Best Georgian Novel 2009-2010 was presented to Aka Morchiladze for his book "The Mamluk" (Bakur Sulakauri Publishing, 2009). The winner of the award was revealed on December 30, 2010 at an even in the Bookstore Ligamus.

The author of the Best Novel 2009-2010 was presented with the highest literary prize money in Georgia - 10 000 Georgian Laris.

The Award was announced on October 29, 2010 with the aim of supporting literary processes in Georgia. 20 novels were nominated for the selection process, including Lasha Bugadze's "Literary Express" (Bakur Sulakauri Publishing), Basa Janikashvili's "Absurdistan" (Bakur Sulakauri Publishing), David Defi Gogibedashvili's "Gardens" (Siesta Publishing), Dato Turashvili's "American Fairy Tales", Zaza Burchuladze's "Adibas" (Bakur Sulakauri Publishing) and others.

The Judging Panel was kept confidential throughout the selection process and was only disclosed at the awarding event. The members of the Panel rated the novels individually, according to the special scale provided by the University. The Award went to the novel that received the highest points.
