Acting U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Bridget Brink at Iliauni

On June 12, Bridget Brink, Acting U.S. Ambassador to Georgia, visited Ilia State University and discussed the Country Report on Human Rights for 2011 at the meeting.

The Acting U.S. Ambassador assessed the human rights condition, talked about political and civil rights, highlighted the importance of human rights protection to democratic state building, underlined the role of NGOs and discussed the involvement of the ethnic groups in civic processes.

U.S. Department of State published the Country Report on Human Rights on May 24. The mentioned report is annually sent to U.S. Congress by U.S. Department of State.  The Report on Human Rights is a part of US effort to support human rights over the world. The report is concerned with individual, civil, political and worker rights as set in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
