Q: What is the application deadline for academic programs?
A: For the fall semester – June 30th, spring semester – November 30th.
Q: How do I apply for the University
A: Ilia State University offers a flexible and user-friendly application process for admission. If an applicant is willing to apply, he/she should register online via the online application form available at https://iliauni.edu.ge/en/international/apply-now
Once the online application is submitted, the applicant will be contacted by the department and further guidance will be given. The whole admission process is administered online.
Q: What is the fee structure for academic programs?
A: Prices are different for all programs. Detailed information on fee structure can be found at https://iliauni.edu.ge/en/international/tuition-fees-and-scholarships
Q: Can I pay in installments?
A: The yearly tuition fee is paid in two installments on a semester basis
Q: What are the required documents for the application?
A: List of required documents for the application may be different for a particular program, however, the general documents are the following:
- High School Certificate (for BA program applicants) or BA degree diploma (for MA program applicants)
- Language certificate (corresponding to CEFR B2 level/Upper-Intermediate)
- Passport
- Photo
- CV (for MA programs applicants)
- Motivation letter (for MA programs applicants)

Q: What are the language requirements?
A: An applicant must have a recognized English qualification aligned with CEFR level B2 to apply successfully.
There are the following options to comply with this requirement:

- an official international language certificate. The primary certificates and minimum scores accepted are the following:
- TOEFL: P/B 513-547; iBT 65 - 78 score
- CBT 183-210
- IELTS Academic (5.5-6 Bands)
- FCE (A, B or C grades)
- BEC Vantage (A, B or C grades)
- PTE (General level 3)
- PTE Academic (59-75 points)
- Michigan (ECCE)
- an English Proficiency Statement from the university, high school, or college, confirming that English was the language of instruction
- a certificate issued by a local or international English language instruction provider (e.g. language school), confirming the acquisition of B2 level as a result of a language course attended
- An applicant must take an online language test aligned with the CEFR level B2. The request should be made within the online application form once submitting the application.
- The English language requirement may be waived if the applicant is a native of or graduated from an English medium high school/university in countries, the official language of which is English.
Q: How much is the application fee?
A: The application fee is 150 USD and it’s non-refundable. The application fee includes translation and notary services, recognition of education, and enrollment procedures. If an applicant is willing to proceed with his documentation and enrollment independently, the application fee can be waived.
Q: Is there any age limit for students to study at Ilia State University?
A: No, there is no age limit.
Q. What is the language of instruction?
A: The language of the programs offered for international students is English.
Q. Are these programs available online?
A: No, the programs are not available online.
Q. What is the duration of the programs?
A: Bachelor’s program duration is 4 years, Master’s program duration is 2 years, One-cycle educational program is 6 years.
Q. Can I take these programs part-time?
A: No, all programs are full-time.
Q: How long does the admission process take?
A: Preliminary screening since the application is submitted by the applicant takes up to 20 days. Once the application fee is paid or documents submitted by the applicant, the enrollment process at the Ministry takes up to 1 month.
Q: How do I check the status of my application?
A: Once the application is submitted, a copy of the application is also sent to the e-mail used while filling out the application. The submitted application goes through the evaluation and checking process by the International Students Department. The department shares the feedback and further instructions via e-mail. If an applicant wants to double-check some information, he/she can send a request to international@iliauni.edu.ge. The mailbox is checked regularly during the business days from 10 am to 6 pm (GEO time).
Q: How to pay the application fee?
A: The application fee is paid via bank transfer only. We don’t accept WU, Paypal, or other types of transfer methods. An applicant should use the details indicated in the following link: https://iliauni.edu.ge/uploads/other/58/58449.pdf
Q: Is it possible to have a campus tour before enrollment?
A: A campus tour is available for all interested applicants willing to get additional information about Ilia State University. In order to plan a campus tour at ISU, an applicant should send a request to international@iliauni.edu.ge. The mailbox is checked regularly during the business days from 10 am to 6 pm (GEO time).
Q: Does ISU recommend using agents/consultant agencies when applying?
A: All applicants can apply at ISU directly without using agency services. Herewith, ISU works with a number of agents/consultant agencies and accepts applications sent by them. Information about agents/consultant agencies can be checked with the International Students Department at international@iliauni.edu.ge in order to avoid any misunderstanding.

Q: Do I need a study visa to travel to Georgia?
Q: What documents are required to be submitted for a foreign citizen to obtain immigration visa?
Q: May an alien apply for a Georgian visa in the third country
A: An alien, who is staying in a third state, may apply for a visa to a Diplomatic Representation or Consular Post of Georgia in the host country, provided he/she has a valid multiple entry/exit visa or a valid residence permit of the host country. In such a case, the validity period of the visa or residence permit of the host country shall be three months longer than the validity period of the required visa.
Q: Is it possible to extend an e-visa in the territory of Georgia?
A: Extension of the e-visa cannot be done in the territory of Georgia. (study purposes)
Q: What period should an alien have left for a legal stay in Georgia in order to get an Immigration Visa?
A: To obtain an immigration visa, an alien legally staying in Georgia shall submit a visa application to the Ministry not later than 45 days before the period of the alien’s legal stay in Georgia expires.
Q: How is it possible to check your Georgian visa status?

Q: What is the next step after obtaining a study visa?
A: After obtaining a D3 type of study visa, the next step is to apply for the residence permit at the Public Service Hall at least 45 days before the visa expires.
Q: What documents are required for the residence permit?
A: In order to apply for the residence permit, you need to submit the following documents:
- D3 type of study visa (not applicable for visa-free country citizens);
- The proof of student status (Request the document from your Argus and get the hard copy within 2-3 business days from the chancellery, E 109 room.)
- The Bank Statement (Deposit at least 5, 000 GEL and request the official bank statement).
Q: How is it possible to check my residence permit application status?
A: To check the residence permit application status, you should visit the following website: https://sda.gov.ge/?page_id=13122&lang=en. Click Search the Application, and indicate the Application Number and Application Code. Application number and code can be found in your application document, given by the Public Service Hall once you submit your application.
Studying at Ilia State University

Q: How to order and get documents?
A: Argus is the platform that allows you to order and get documents within 2 working days. You can use Argus in order to get proof of student status, transcript, and other documents, take academic leave, suspend or terminate student status, etc.
For example, in order to get proof of student status (for a residence permit, embassy, etc), you should open Argus, click statements, then click ADD button, then choose the template “proof of student status”, sign, and send it.
The document will be ready within 2 working days and you can take a hard copy from the University chancellery.
Q: How to change your passport number at the University?
A.: Open your Argus and click statements, choose the blank form, and write the statement:
“I have renewed my passport. According to my new passport, the passport number is …. Please update my passport details in the University system. A new passport copy is attached to this statement”.
After that, upload your new passport, click the sign, and send. Within 2 working days, your details will be updated.

Q: How can I get a diploma?
A: Diploma issuance takes up to 3 months. During this period, a student can take a confirmation letter from the University that the qualification has been awarded and a student has graduated from the University. The confirmation letter also includes information that the diploma is under preparation process.
Once the Diploma is printed and prepared with the official signatures and stamps, the University informs students to take a diploma.
Diploma can be taken from the E Building, I floor, Diploma department.
Please note that some countries require legalization/apostille procedures for the Diploma and Diploma supplement. The procedure of legalization/apostille is done at the Public Service Hall within 10 working days.
If a student leaves before the diploma is issued, he/she can give the power of attorney to the University representative before he/she leaves and the University representative will proceed with the further procedures of legalization/apostille or/and posting to the student’s address. Please address to the International Students Department for further information.
