FARIG Scholarships for Georgian Researchers

News

Founded in 2000 by John Wilkinson, the organization Friends of Academic Research in Georgia (FaRiG) annually provides Georgian researchers with the opportunity to receive grants in the field of the humanities and supports them in publishing their research abroad.

2026 Gogia Tsetskhladze Research Grant
Available for Georgian researchers living and working in Georgia. The grant is for up to £2000. The research should focus on the archaeology and history of the Black Sea region up to 700 BCE.

2026 Georgia–Europe Relations Research Grant
Available for Georgian researchers living and working in Georgia. The grant is for up to £1600 and is funded by Professor Hubertus Janis. The research should focus on the multi-century history of Georgia’s relations with Europe.

2026 BEWC South Caucasus Research Grant
Available for Georgian researchers living and working in Georgia. The grant is for up to £1000 and is funded by the Britain East-West Centre. The research should focus on the history and culture of Georgia and one or more of its neighboring countries.

2026 John Wilkinson Research Grant
Available for Georgian researchers living and working in Georgia. The grant is for up to £1500. The research should focus on topics of Georgian culture and heritage that are significant for an international audience.

2026 Taqaishvili Research Grant
Available for Georgian researchers living and working in Georgia. The grant is for up to £1000. The research should focus on historical aspects of Georgia–Russia relations across different periods.

2026 Simon Zazadze Research Grant
Available for Georgian researchers living and working in Georgia. The grant is for up to £1500. The research should focus on Georgian–Turkish relations.

2026 FaRiG Polonsky Research Grant
Available for Georgian researchers living and working in Georgia. The grant is for up to £1000. The research should focus on the history and culture of Jewish communities in Georgia and the Caucasus region.

2026 FaRiG NGEF Research Grant
Available for Georgian researchers living and working in Georgia. The grant is for up to £1500. The research should focus on Georgia–Russia relations in the field of visual and creative arts.

2025 FaRiG Caroline Adams Essay Award
An essay award for Georgian researchers. The award is for up to £500. The essay should address Georgia and the humanities, demonstrating a connection with international research. The winner will be published on the FaRiG website and, if necessary, in an academic publication.
