PROGRAMMING CLUB OF COMPUTING CENTER AT ILIAUNI: "Software development in High Energy Physics"

Events

The Programming Club of Computing Center at Ilia State University presents a weekly series of meetings for people interested in Computer Science.

The next topic for February 9, 2022, is "Software development in High Energy Physics"

Discussion Topics:

  • How does High Energy Physics (HEP) drive hardware and software development
  • More about R&D and software development in HEP
  • Building a career path for research software engineers
  • How you can get involved in the projects while being a student

About the Speaker:

Oksana Shadura is a software engineer, employed by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (USA) and based at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN, Geneve, Switzerland).

Currently, she is involved in the design and development of an interactive analysis facility (Kubernetes, Jupyterhub, Dask, etc.) for the high-energy physics community. The goal of the research is to explore a facility's integration with existing distributed systems, data delivery services, and modern analysis frameworks, allowing users access to a wider Python ecosystem, as well as novel programming paradigms. Oksana graduated with a Ph.D. from the National Technical University of Ukraine 'Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’ while doing the doctoral studies in Software Design for Experiments Group at CERN.
