Fellowship with Parliamentary Committees

The fellowship is announced in the framework of a project - Georgian Academia Contributing to Strengthening Policy and Law Making Process in Georgia - implemented by Public Policy Research and Training Centre (PPRTC) at Ilia State University. The project is run in close cooperation and financial support from Tetra Tech and USAID. The main goal of the fellowship is to initiate cooperation and establish effective communication channels between the academic sector and selected offices of the legislative branch of Georgian government.

Fellowship
Within the project framework PPRTC is announcing a call for submission of candidates to select 2 fellows. One will be based with the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee and the other with the Budget and Finance Committee of Georgian Parliament. The fellowship is announced for 9 months. Throughout these 9 months, fellows will be based full-time in relevant committees of Parliament of Georgia and will be involved in the research and development of policy documents in the Committee. The fellows will work in close cooperation with experts and staff of PPRTC. They will receive guidelines as well as regular consultations related to their fellowship and practical assignments, etc. Responsibilities of fellows will include:

  • Engagement in the daily work of the Committee;
  • Participation in preparation of policy documents and legal drafts;
  • Participation in the research initiated in the project framework (including conduction of interviews, preparation of transcripts, development of draft documents);
  •  Participation in organization and conduct of public meetings to discuss policy documents;
  • Providing monthly reports and one final report to PPRTC throughout the fellowship period;
  • Participation in networking as well as other public events organized in the project framework;
  • Engagement in organization of other activities directly linked to the project activities.Working environment: the fellow will be based in the office of relevant Committee in Tbilisi. The fellow will be accountable to Public Policy Research and Training Centre at Ilia State University. The fellow will receive monthly allowance of USD 250 (GROSS).

Requirements:
The following requirements will be considered for selection of the fellow:

  • Graduate diploma or final level of studies on graduate level in economics, finance, business administration, law, political science or public policy;
  •  Academic background in research methodologies;
  •  Minor practical experience in academic research;
  •  Excellent academic writing skills;
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills;
  •  English language skills.

All interested candidates should submit their CV and short motivation  letter in English to pprtc@iliauni.edu.ge. Please indicate “Fellowship” in the subject line of the email. Application deadline is December 25, 2015. Short listed candidates will be asked for a short test on December 28-29 and interview in the second week of January, 2016.
