On October 9, at 20:00, at Ilia State University (ISU), under the aegis of the Institute of Healthcare and Insurance, Doctor Tengiz Verulava will hold a public lecture on the topic "Medical Market: Information and Incentives".

Health sector, as the branch of economy, is characterized by its specificity. This conditions special forms of economic relations. However, society thinks that the healthcare economy does not differ from ordinary market. The public lecture will be considered a difference between the medical market and the usual market and what is the reason of these difference.

As per prominent American economist William Hsiao, healthcare constitutes “abnormal pathological economics,” i.e., economics market force impact of which on the volume of service, its price and quality is significantly different from ordinary markets (Hsiao, 1995).

The public lecture will focus on the difference between medical and ordinary markets and the causes of the said difference.
