On March 21, at 18:00, a meeting with an author Eric Lee, Ilia State University Doctor Honoris Causa, will be held in the Book House Ligamus.

At the meeting, he will talk about his forthcoming book with the working title The Uprising 1924: Georgia and the Birth of Democratic Socialism in Europe.

The book tells us about the preparation process and preconditions for the uprising of 1924, its brutal suppression and the response that followed from European governments and left-wingers. The author suggests that the reaction to the uprising of 1924 laid the foundation for the birth of democratic socialism as a counterbalance to Bolshevism.

The book is planned to be published in English and Georgian in the fall of 2024.

Georgian readers are familiar with Eric Lee’s books such as The Experiment: Georgia's Forgotten Revolution (2018) and Night of the Bayonets: The Texel Uprising and Hitler’s revenge (2020) (Both books were translated by Keti Kantaria and published by the publishing house Ziari Press).
