About the Order

The Order `Pléiade` was established on April 30, 1976, during the 7th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The international award aims to honor individuals who have distinguished themselves in the service of the Francophonie’s ideals.

In the top right corner of the Order Certificate, one can find the words of Léopold Sédar Senghor, a former parliamentarian, former President of the Republic of Senegal, linguist, poet, and a member of the French Academy: “Les mots du français rayonnent de mille feux comme les diamants de la Pléiade – French words radiate with a thousand lights like the diamonds of the Pléiade”.
