ERC Consolidator Grant
Competitions
The ERC Consolidator Grant supports excellent researchers aiming to strengthen their scientific independence by establishing or developing their own research team in Europe.
Eligibility
- Open to researchers of any nationality with 7-12 years of experience after PhD.
- Applicants must present an outstanding track record and an excellent research proposal.
- All research fields are eligible (“bottom-up” approach).
Host Institution
Research must be carried out at a public or private research organisation in an EU Member State or associated country.
Applications are submitted by a single Principal Investigator (PI) on behalf of the host institution.
The PI does not need to be employed by the host at submission, but a commitment is required upon funding.
Team
Projects are led by the PI, who may recruit team members of any nationality. Teams may also include members based outside Europe.
Funding
- Up to €2 million for up to 5 years.
- Up to €1 million in additional funding for eligible start-up or major research costs (up to €2 million for PIs relocating from non-associated third countries).
- Grants cover 100% of eligible direct costs plus 25% indirect costs.
