Korea Foundation Master’s, Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowship Programs for 2027

Korea Foundation (KF) announces support programs, scholarships and fellowship opportunities for 2027:

1. Korea Foundation – Scholarship for Graduate Studies 2027

The Korea Foundation (KF) offers scholarships to M.A. students and Ph.D. candidates studying at universities outside Korea whose research focuses on Korea or a Korea-related topic.

Eligible fields include humanities, social sciences, arts and cultural studies, media and communications, contemporary Korea, and other relevant fields with a Korea-related research topic.

Applicants must be enrolled or preparing to enrol as full-time graduate students, must not have previously obtained a Ph.D., and must hold citizenship or permanent residency outside Korea.

Scholarship period: 1 year
M.A. students: eligible for up to 2 years of support
Ph.D. candidates: eligible for up to 3 years.

Application period: Applications are submitted three times a year according to region.

2. Korea Foundation – Fellowship for Postdoctoral Research 2027

The Korea Foundation (KF) offers a one-year fellowship supporting full-time research by emerging scholars whose research focuses on Korea or a Korea-related topic.

Eligible applicants: Scholars who obtained their Ph.D. within the five years preceding the fellowship start date, or Ph.D. candidates who will obtain their degree before the fellowship begins. Applicants must not hold a full-time lecturer/researcher position at or above the specified level and must hold citizenship or permanent residency outside Korea.

The fellowship provides a stipend for research expenses and costs related to the publication of the doctoral dissertation.

Applicants must conduct research at an affiliated university or research institution outside Korea with relevant Korean Studies expertise and resources.

Fellowship period: 1 year

Application period: Applications must be submitted three times a year according to region.

Applications must be submitted in English or Korean through the KF Online Application Portal.
