Ilia State University and HZDR Sign Letter of Intent to Strengthen Research Cooperation
News
Ilia State University (ISU) and Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) have signed a Letter of Intent to further strengthen cooperation in research and innovation. The document was signed on 7 September 2026 during the visit of Prof. Sebastian Schmidt, Head of the Georgian-German Science Bridge (GGSB), to Georgia.
The Letter of Intent builds on the successful cooperation between ISU and HZDR within the framework of the Georgian-German Science Bridge (GGSB), which has created valuable opportunities for scientific exchange and collaboration, particularly for young researchers and students. The new framework aims to further develop these links through joint research activities, researcher and doctoral student mobility, scientific exchange, and participation in international research projects.
The signing took place in the context of GGSB 2026: A Student and Collaboration Workshop – “Science at Existing and Planned SMART|Labs in Georgia,” bringing together Georgian and German researchers and students during 7-11 September. ISU looks forward to building on its cooperation with HZDR and creating new opportunities for joint research and long-term scientific collaboration.
