A public lecture "Modern Islam: Inner Currents and Theologies" by scholar Mohammad Tawhidi will be held at book house "Ligamus" on November 25, at 17:00 as part of the monthly public lecture series of the Master's Program in Religious Studies.

About the Speaker

Imam Mohammed Tawheed is a Canadian citizen, a Muslim scholar, educator, best-selling author, spokesperson and current vice president of the Global Imams Council. The subject of his research is the ideology of Islamic extremism and its manifestations. He reads lectures on this topic in the Middle East, Europe, America, Asia and Australia. He is given authority by the highest ranking Islamic leaders to represent the Islamic community in academic institutions.

Mohammad Tawhidi is engaged in international diplomatic activities and cooperates with various countries on counter-terrorism issues. In 2010, he was publicly ordained as an Islamic authority by Grand Ayatollah Shirazi in the holy city of Qom, Iran.

He was recognized as an advisor by the Senate of Canada on June 13, 2018.
