Academic Writing and Publishing in the Postplagiarism Era

News

On 25 May 2026, Ilia State University hosted a workshop on “Academic Writing and Publishing in the Postplagiarism Era,” led by Elena Denisova-Schmidt and Tatiana Sitchinava. The workshop brought together participants interested in strengthening their academic writing, developing publishing strategies, and using generative AI responsibly in research and teaching.

The first part of the workshop focused on publishing in international journals, including how to identify suitable journals, prepare manuscripts, respond to reviewers, avoid predatory publishers, and manage authorship responsibilities. The second part addressed the opportunities and challenges of AI in academic work, offering practical guidance on what is permitted, how AI use should be acknowledged, and how to maintain academic integrity.

By combining practical publishing advice with a timely discussion of AI and academic ethics, the workshop offered participants valuable tools for developing their research and navigating today’s rapidly changing academic environment. The workshop is part of the ongoing project “Addressing Academic Misconduct and Integrity in Georgia” and is supported by the Center for Governance and Culture in Europe at the University of St.Gallen (GCE-HSG), Switzerland.
