The TUTA Writers’ Fellowship of Georgia

News

The National Trust of Georgia with PEN Georgia and Public Art Platform proudly presents the 2024 Fellowship Program for Writers in Georgia.

The application is open to all citizens of Georgia above the age of 18. Compositions may be in Georgian or English.

The fellowship theme is “Memory, Heritage, and Tomorrow,” broadly defined. Writing topics may include the memories of family and community members, local histories and legacies, the relationship between the past and future, the personal or national meaning of cultural heritage, or any other related topic.

All kinds of composition are acceptable, including fiction, personal essays, poetry, and graphic novels. Participants are encouraged to explore their creative interests within the theme.

Applications will undergo a review process by the committee responsible for assessing applications that comprises members of Ilia State University, Public Art Platform and The National Trust of Georgia.

This initiative is part of The Memory Project, implemented by Ilia State University (ISU) and supported by the U.S. Embassy.

The following commitments are required

  • Ability to fully commit to a month of writing.
  • A fiction or non-fiction piece for possible inclusion in a book on the above theme.
  • Permission to announce details with photograph of selected applicants on Social Media

.Fellowship details:

Application Deadline: September 30, 2024

Fellowship period: October 1 - 31

Award amount: USD 350 equivalent in Georgian Lari.

Application Package should include:

  • A CV and a cover letter introducing yourself and a short exposition on what would make you a good choice for the fellowship (1 page max)
  • A short proposal for possible topics based on areas of interest and expertise (1 page max)
  • A writing sample (if available)
