ISU REPORT ON ITS SCIENTIFIC-RESEARCH ACTIVITY –INSTITUTE FOR THEORETICAL PHYSICS
On December 13, at 18:00, at Ilia State University room E207 (Cholokashvili Ave., #3/5), within the framework of the report on scientific-research activity of ISU, the Institute for Theoretical Physics of the University will hold the presentations of scientific-research projects.
The presentation of two scientific-research projects will be held.
- The report on the topic Issues of Modern Physics and Structure of Reality will be given by the Professor Emeritus Giorgi Machabeli.
As early as in VI century AD, Pithagora posed the question: how close the universe comprehended by feelings can be to reality? He held that reality is possible to be perceived only through emotionless, abstract figures. After Newton special criteria for determining the truth were formulated, and these criteria involve examining mathematical results through experiments or vice versa. Precisely here modern physics is faced with problems on which the lecture casts the light.
- The oral report on the topic Turbulence – Unsolved Issue of Classical Physics will be delivered by Grigol Ghoghoberidze.
Notwithstanding turbulence being one of the natural conditions of liquid, air and plasma and playing a vital role in a number of astrophysical, geophysical and cosmological phenomena, its all-embracing theoretical description still remains an elusive aim. The reports will focus on modern approaches and problems of studying turbulence.
Date and Time: December 13, 18:00
Venue: room E 207, Cholokhashvili Ave. #3/5, ISU.
All are welcomed to attend the event.
