Vision of Ilia State University Students: Perspectives of Tourism Development in Kakheti
Wednesday, January 27, the Ilia State University hosted a student scientific practical conference: "Touristic Perspectives of Development in Kakheti." Body of participants consisted of the students from the Faculty of Business and Law (track Tourism Management). Session was attended by the Head of the Tourism and Resorts Department, Ministry of Economic Development, Mr. Zaal Abasadze and representatives from the Office of the Governor of Kakheti. According 
to the vision of the students, development of tourism in Kakheti has one of the best perspectives in Georgia because of local historical and cultural monuments and long term winemaking traditions. It has to be mentioned, that according to statistics, number of tourists who visited Kakheti in 2009 was 100,000 compared to 53,000 from the year 2008. During the conference participants discussed the following topics: "Main objectives of touristic development of Kakheti," "Winemaking and opportunities for tourism development," "Resort Akhtala" etc. According to the Head of the Tourism and Resorts Department plan of the tourism development in Kakheti which was elaborated by the students is very interesting and can serve as a prerequisite for future cooperation.
