Regional International Scientific Conference
On October 7-11, on Mount Khanobili, Evgeny Kharadze Astrophysics Observatory of Ilia Chavchavadze State University hosted regional international scientific conference "Emanation by Cosmic Objects: From Radio to Gama Astronomy". Conference was dedicated to the 100 year anniversary of Professor Mikheil Vashakidze and was organized by Ilia Chavchavadze State University.
Abastumani Observatory was established in 1932 and is the only astrophysics observatory in Georgia. Professor Mikheil Vashakidze contributed a lot to its development. One of the craters on the moon was named after him by American astronauts. This is the honor identical to being awarded the Nobel Prize.
Except for Georgian participants, astrophysicist scientists from Germany, Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan also participated in the conference. Wide range of topics including astrophysics of high energies and connections of the sun and the earth were discussed during the sessions. Because of different political and economic reasons no such conference was organized since the last century. This one can be considered a good networking opportunity for professionals working in this field. Participants of the conference agreed that they will continue regional cooperation in the future as well.
