A meeting was held between Faig Guliyev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Nino Doborjginidze, the Rector of the University, at Ilia State University on September 20.

The parties discussed cooperation projects and prospects between Ilia State University and the Republic of Azerbaijan. Active cooperation was planned in the course of the development of the Azerbaijani language teacher training program and doctoral education.

Ilia State University is a leading educational institution in terms of choice and enrolment rates of Azerbaijani-speaking students. They benefit from scholarships established by SOCAR and master different professions within the framework of the cooperation.

Their participation in university life is worth noting. One of the important projects is the prosopography base of the First Republic of Georgia (1918-1921) created by the university, in which Azerbaijani-speaking students were actively involved - they worked on Azerbaijani sources.

Ambassador Faig Guliev will hold a public lecture for the students of Ilia State University in the fall semester to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan.
