“Ligamus” Hosts Presentation of New Translations by David Akriani
On December 28, book store of our university hosted presentation of two new translations by David Akriani: Jostein Gaarder's "The Frog Castle" and Tormod Haugen's "Zeppelin". Meeting with the translator was organized in an untraditional manner: David Akriani read his translations by candle light and told the audience about authors. "Tormod Haugen is the most remarkable Norwegian writer of children and teenager books. His first works were written in accordance with traditions of realism. Already at that time sophisticated taste merged with individual style," - says the translator and gives us his interpretation of the characters which become alive during the literary evening. David Akriani is a person of unique creative capabilities who has published two of his own and more than forty translated books. During the presentation of new translations children were given the books as presents. No wonder as long as Haugen's books are about children. Book store "Ligamus" also participated in giving out presents: the ones who found toys in new year cookies were awarded the new book of David Akriani. Translator invited the audience to the presentation of Baudelaire translations. Presentation is scheduled for spring 2010.
