Italy State Prize Laureate - Professor Nodar Ladaria of Ilia Chavchavaze State University
On Thursday, June 4 the book store "Ligamus" of Ilia Chavchavadze University hosted a celebration on the occasion of Italy State Prize Laureate award to Professor Nodar Ladaria. Literary celebrities, translators, media and the Ambassador of Italy to Georgia H.E Vittorio Sandalli participated in the event.
In 2009, Professor Nodar Ladaria, an outstanding translator, Dr. of Oriental Ecclesiastic sciences, Press ombudsman of Georgian "24 Hours" daily turned out among the world's honored persons awarded by the government of Italy with State Prizes. Italy State prize is awarded annually for outstanding literary translations from Italian and to Italian, for the best Italian and foreign publications and four other types of prizes in additional fields.
Professor Nodar Ladaria was granted the award for his translations, pedagogical works and monumental contributions to promotion of Italian culture. He is the first ever Georgian citizen to be granted the title of the kind.
