


Ilia State University Faculty and Staff Study Visit to San Diego State University
News
As part of the project "Fostering University Enterprise/Entrepreneurship Education (EE) Reform for Boosting Engaged Learning in Creativity," a study visit for Ilia State University faculty and administrative representatives took place at San Diego State University (SDSU) from October 1 to 11.
This initiative is implemented under the framework of the project “Fostering University Entrepreneurship Education (EE) Curricular and Co-curricular Reform,” which is a grantee of the Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF). The CIF was established as part of the "Georgia I2Q – Innovation, Inclusion and Quality" program, a joint venture between the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the World Bank.
Ilia State University academic staff and administration representatives attended Training of Trainers (TOT) workshops in entrepreneurship and innovation and participated in various events.
- Visited SDSU's innovative laboratories and entrepreneurial initiatives: They learned how these programs support students in turning ideas into businesses
- Attended lectures at San Diego State University on the following topics: Strategic Marketing, Finance, Organizational Behavior, Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and others. Sessions were led by distinguished SDSU faculty members.
- Visited entrepreneurial centers and engaged in practical training: They experienced the processes implemented by the "Lavin Entrepreneurship Center" and "Zahn Innovation Platform Launchpad." The delegation met with various SDSU governing bodies and developed an action plan for project implementation and future collaboration opportunities.
Following this visit, Ilia State University will begin the implementation of entrepreneurial curricular and co-curricular activities, incorporating updated educational materials and launching student projects. These activities will benefit both academic and administrative staff, fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the Ilia State University community.
Project Overview:
The project to ‘Foster University Entrepreneurship Education (EE) Curricular and Co-curricular Reform’ will promote (a) a culture of student and academic innovations, (b) entrepreneurship activities through curriculum, and co-curricular innovation and students spaces, and (c) start-up support system development and start-up creation at ILIAUNI to advance economic growth of Georgia.
