Georgian Institute for Debate and Education opened Tbilisi Debate School in cooperation with Ilia State University

The Georgian Institute for Debate and Education (GIDE) opened the Tbilisi School of Debate in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Ilia State University within the framework of the project "Debates for Better Education" and the support of the Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation.

Students at the Debate School were selected through a two-stage competition. Young students joining the school are given a unique opportunity to participate in all activities, competitions, or tournaments planned by the project both in Georgia and abroad.

The first course of the Debate School will last 8 months.

Teaching will include two-hour weekly classes where students learn formal debate techniques and through fun activities expand skills that will help them in their academic learning.

The project "Debates for a Better Education" aims to develop in students the skills of free and independent citizens and to promote competencies such as constructive reasoning, argumentation, data collection, oratory, teamwork, time management, respect for the opponent, etc.
