First ever time at Iliauni - jazz and pop music concert
On June 22 the University lecture hall successfully hosted Jazz and Pop music evening. The event marked establishment of music centre at ILIAUNI and promoted high art of jazz among our students.
The concert gathered splendid Georgian Jazz-musicians ranging from 12-13 year old to experienced professionals. The audience was embraced by breathtaking performance of Music bands JT, Groovers, Con-Fusion, Quintet of vocalists "Inten", band of Tbilisi Music College and shining soloists Irina Ebralidze, Irali Kvanchiani, and Vazha Mania.
Concert program was pretty rich encompassing Jazz Classics as well as original compositions. One of the most interesting parts of the concert was jazz interpretation of Georgian City (Kalakuri) Folklore.
The evening was closed by jam-session which was joined by guest musicians, composers, and Jazz-saxophonist Rezo Kiknadze. Rezo as well as Irina Ebralidze are leading lecturers at the Music centre. The enthusiasm and storm of applause proved their popularity among students.
The concert atmosphere was free and informal hosting guests apparently well familiar with the genre.
