Conflicts and Cooperation in the Caucasus
On December 12-13 Ilia Chavchavadze State University hosted an international regional workshop "Conflicts and Cooperation in the Caucasus: New Reality and Pursuit of Dialogue".
Main objective of the workshop, which was organized on initiative of the International School for Caucasus Studies, was to discuss new reality and those challenges that resulted from dramatic developments in the Caucasus during the last two years. Local and international experts presented political analysis of recent processes. They also discussed opportunities of cooperation among scientists and representatives of the society in order to develop regional dialogue.
Among participants of the workshop were: Ghia Nodia (political scientist, Director of International School for Caucasus Studies), Lasha Darsalia (Head of Analytical Department of the National Security Council of Georgia), Archil Gegeshidze (political scientist, representative of the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies), Tornike Gordadze (Director of Caucasus Studies under French Institute of Anatolian Studies). Local and international experts from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Republic of Ingushetia, Karachaevo-Cherkessia presented these papers: "New Phase in Turkish-Armenian Relationships: Perspectives and Influences of These Relationships on the Region," "Development of Russian Relationships in the Caucasus After August War of 2008" etc.
