Civil Society in a New Media
Tuesday, December 22, a presentation of the website www.azrebi.ge took place at the Ilia State University bookstore "Ligamus."
Azrebi.ge is meant to become a unique site in the cyber space, where the author will be able to present her ideas and advocate their importance despite political, religious, national, ethnic or any other background in front of an unlimited and diverse audience.
Based on the assessment of experts, for the time being Georgia does not have any public civil space which would enable unlimited discussion of civil and political problems and provide a platform for self expression without rankings. "azrebi.ge" offers such platform with the help of 11 "hosts", who have different experience and world-view. Along with publishing on the website their own articles and presentations they have an exclusive right to present to the readers and viewers of "azrebi.ge" articles and video presentations of the third parties. The hosts are: Ninia Kakabadze, Simon Janashia, Rati Amaglobeli, Giga Zedania, David Aprasidze, Lasha Bugadze, Eka Kvesitadze, Nino Danelia, Lasha Bakradze, Kakha Kurtanidze and Levan Gambashidze.
azrebi.ge consists of two sections: "written thoughts" - page which contains articles, and "video thoughts" - space, where uploads of monologues, dialogues, discussions an presentations are to be found.
In the section of "video thoughts" hosts conduct discussions with maximum duration of 25 minutes. They are responsible for identifying interesting guests and offering them to make a video presentation.
The section of "written thoughts" presents articles which are written by the hosts. Texts discuss urgent topics and hosts make an effort to involve in the discussion as many persons as possible. Audience is offered to write an article and to publish it.
Information that is published on the website is open for use to all media resources: they can enjoy unlimited use of it, though they have to indicate the source.
Presentation was intended for the representatives of different media. Attending journalists had an opportunity to get answers to their questions directly from the "hosts" of azrebi.ge.
