Exhibition and discussion within the frames of The Memory Project
News
On September 11, Sovlab and The Memory Project hosted a gallery in Poti to highlight the overlooked photographic legacy of polymath and great visionary Niko Nikoladze. Nikoladze was a prominent Georgian national and a leading advocate for Georgia's Western development. Under the Soviet regime, much of his archive was confiscated and his legacy suppressed, deemed incompatible with Soviet ideology. The event marked the unveiling of a previously unknown photographic exhibition from the Nikoladze-Gambashidze family collection, curated by photographer Guram Tsibakashvili. The exhibition features photos Sovlab acquired from a family descendant, depicting several key political events from the early 20th century, including photos from the period of Georgia's independence.
The exhibition and discussion were organized as part of "The Memory Project," supported by Ilia State University and funded by the U.S. Embassy.
