Electronic Database

In 2014, we purchased electronic database  “Pscyinfo“ comprising around 2,500 different journals, books and specific chapters of books, dissertations, works and publications in the areas of psychology and behavioral and social sciences. The electronic base was created by the American Psychological Association, and it is weekly updated. The electronic base enables researchers to obtain existing literature in the field, as well as contact publishers.

In 2012, within the framework of the project financed by The Academic Swiss Caucasus Net (ASCN), we purchased Nvivo - computer programme for analysis of qualitative data, which enables us to process a large volume of qualitative data.  

Science Picnic

For the purposes of promoting science, Iliauni science picnic is held in Georgia annually. Outdoors, in special tents, scientific groups present interesting experiments and interactive exhibitions. Prime task of the picnic is to demonstrate achievements of modern science in an entertaining way for adolescents and school children.

Science picnic was conducted in Georgia on September 29, 2012, in Vake Park for the first time. Since then the event has enjoyed increasing popularity and has been held annually. Representatives of different fields of science present interesting shows for hours. The Institute of Psychology was actively involved in the science picnic of 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. In a tent for psychologists called “human behavior,” students presented Raven’s Progressive Matrices, memory tests, etc. Students visiting the tent are granted different gifts.

Doctor Mark Hovee’s Public Lecture concession and external groups: two potential barriers for cross-cultural understanding 

On October 21, at Ilia State University Book House Ligamus, Iliauni Social and Cultural Research Institute and Dimitri Uznadze Institute of Psychology organized Doctor Hovee’s public lecture on the topic “concession and external groups: two potential barriers for cross-cultural understanding.” 

Licensed psychologist Mark Hove is an author of the following works and publications:

A workshop within the project gender equality.

On November 13, within the project “Gender Equality,” Prof Nino Javakhishvili will make a speech on the topic of family violence.

The project is being organized by the Department of Education and Science of Students’ Self-Governance at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University; Dimitri Uznadze Institute of Psychology is a project partner. 

Presentation of projects financed through grant contests organized by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation
Under the auspices of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, series of public presentations financed through science grants are being held at different universities. All grant holders share research results to the interested public. Accordingly, people concerned are introduced to novelties in science.

On November 12th of 2015, at Ilia State University, a presentation called “ABA founded services for children with autism spectrum disorder in Georgia” was held by a consultant at Dimitri Uznadze Institute of Psychology Prof Tinatin Chincharauli.

On November 27th of 2015, at Tbilisi State University, a presentation called “seventh conference by The Society for the Study of Emerging Adulthood (SSEA)” by Nino Skhirtladze, a researcher at Dimitri Uznadze Institute of Psychology, was held.

Seventh Annual Conference in Gender Research

On December 1, 2015, 7th annual conference in Gender Research “Women Oppression Manifestations and Responsive Opposition” organized by the Social Science Center and Tbilisi State University Gender Research Institute was conducted. The conference was dedicated to the 16 days of international campaign against gender-based violence.

At the conference, Prof Nino Javakhishvili delivered a speech on the topic “whether or not social support to victims of family violence assist them in adjustment.” The speech was prepared within the project of Dimitri Uznadze Institute of Psychology called "depression, anxiety and life satisfaction in women subject to family violence against the background of social support.”

„Series of current projects organized by CRRC-Georgia and American Councils and South Caucasus American Research Institute (ARISC)  

On December 9, 2015, under the auspices of CRRC-Georgia and American Councils, as well as The American Research Institute of the South Caucasus (ARISC), the eleventh session of the “current series of projects” was conducted.
At the meeting, Prof Nino Javakhishvili and Maka Lortkipanidze, researcher at Davit Uznadze Institute of Psychology, presented current research called “how victims of family violence perceive and receive social support” prepared within Davit Uznadze Institute of Psychology project called "depression, anxiety and life satisfaction in women subject to family violence against the background of social support.”
The series of current projects aim to support and criticize research and academic projects around the region of Caucasus.

International Regional Conference of the World Psychiatrist Association

On April 28, employee at Dimitri Uznadze Institute of Psychology Ia Shekriladze participated in the International Regional Conference of The World Psychiatrist Association held on April 27-30 in Tbilisi.

The local co-organizers of the conference were the Society of Georgian Psychiatrists and Alliance for Better Psychiatric Health. The conference aimed to discuss modern approaches in the field of psychiatric health and its future areas. Leading international and local experts in healthcare participated in it.
