The Visit of ABET experts to Iliauni
Joe Turner, Franc Noel and Bill Hayter, the representatives of the ABET Foundation, leading international experts, visited Ilia State University with the support of the Millennium Challenge Corporation and San Diego State University - Georgia on April 27. The high qualification of graduates of АBET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited programs is recognized by all high-tech companies and foreign leading universities.
The aim of the visit was to discuss the existing engineering programs at Ilia State University and to develop them to such a high level that international ABET accreditation could be granted. The representatives of the ABET Foundation and San Diego State University - Georgia met with Giga Zedania, the Rector of the University, Davit Tarkhnishvili, the Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, the heads of the Quality Assurance Office of the university and the faculty, the heads of the Computer Engineering, Electrical and Civil Engineering and Computer Sciences programs within the framework of the visit.
During the visit, they discussed ways of continuous development of existing and planned programs of Ilia State University, opportunities for internationalization, compatibility with engineering programs of San Diego State University, functions of the Advisory Board of Engineering Programs of Ilia State University and preparation processes for АBET accreditation. As a result of discussions, foreign experts presented specific recommendations for the development of engineering programs of Ilia State University at a high level.
