The seismic hazard assessment maps form the basis for the state's earthquake-resistant construction standards, whose strict implementation and reflection in the country's building code is a prerequisite for the state's seismic safety.
The main goal of the scientific conference, "From Science To Safety: Meeting Engineering Needs with Earth Science," is to present to the broader public the results of scientific research conducted in the region over the past 20 years within international projects, which formed the basis for the new seismic hazard assessment maps.
