New Master’s Programmeme Presentation and Public Lecture “Why Lexicography?!”

We are pleased to invite you to a public lecture “Why Lexicography?!” by Prof. Tinatin Margalitadze on the 29th of June, at 17:00.

About the Lecture

Ilia State University pays special attention to the teaching of lexicography and the development of the field.

The subject "Introduction to Lexicography" is delivered to undergraduate students at various philological directions. The doctoral module "Electronic Lexicography", which was added to the fourth module of the doctoral programmeme "Digital Humanities", has obtained accreditation.

In addition, the work on the master programme "Lexicography, Terminology and Modern Technologies" has been completed. Currently, the programme is going through the accreditation process and students should be admitted to it from the autumn semester.

The Lecture aims at emphasizing the significance of the field and the perspectives of the students interested in the discipline.

 About the Speaker

Tinatin Margalitadze, is a full professor of lexicography at Ilia State University. She is one of the compilers, editor-in-chief and publisher of the Comprehensive English-Georgian Dictionary, compiler and editor of English-Georgian learner’s Dictionary; Editor of online dictionaries of English-Georgian Military, English-Georgian Biology Online Dictionary, English-Russian-Georgian Technical Online Dictionary.

From 2017 to present, she has been a member of the European Association of Lexicographers (EURALEX), the African Association for Lexicography (AFRILEX), the Dictionary Society of North America (DSNA), and the European Master in Lexicography (EMLEX).

In 2012-2018, she has been a member of the governing Board of the European Lexicographers Association (EURALEX).

Format: The lecture will be held in a hybrid format and it will be possible to attend it both in physical space and online. To attend the event, it is required to register and indicate the preferred format of attendance in the registration form no later than June 27, 2022.

Participants registered for the online lecture will receive a Zoom link at the e-mail address indicated in the registration form; while participants registered for the physical space, will receive information about the event venue via e-mail.
