Conference “Social Work, a Profession Based on Human Rights”

Events

The conference “Social Work, a Profession Based on Human Rights” will be held in connection with the International Human Rights Day in the G106 auditorium of Ilia State University on December 9, at 11:00.

The second student conference on social work is organized by Ilia State University with the Georgian Association of Social Workers and Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

The aim of the conference is to promote awareness of social work as a global profession focused on human rights.

An international analysis of the development of social work has shown that its practice has developed differently in the context of individual nation-states and is unique to specific cultures and countries. However, the significance of human rights as a powerful tool in the field of social work becomes more noticeable in the process of transnationalization of social problems in the globalized world. Thus, it is significant for the importance of social work as a global profession, the so-called “super-national” and scientific sphere to increase and focus on the following issues: overcoming poverty, addressing the problems of children in state care, street-related youth, the homeless, the elderly, etc.

One direct way to popularize social work as a global profession is to promote international dialogue among professionals.

The motto of the conference is “Development of human rights in the global social profession”.
