International Conference of Kartvelian Studies South Caucasian Chalk Circle-2
From 12 to 14 September Ilia State University (ISU) hosted an international conference of Kartvelian Studies South Caucasian Chalk Circle (SCCC) organized by ISU, University of Maryland, US and Université Paris 8, France and funded by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation.
The SCCC was founded by foreign Kartvelologists in 2016. The same year, the first conference (SCCC-1) was held in Paris. From 2 to 11 September 2018, ISU hosted a summer school of the same title, and from 12 to 14 September, a conference that seeks to contribute to the internationalization of Kartvelian studies, creation of joint research platforms for Georgian and foreign scholars, and promotion of Kartvelian and Caucasian studies as important areas of linguistic research among foreign universities. Along with Georgian scholars, around fifteen researchers of US and European universities working in the field of Kartvelian studies took part in the conference.
