Q: What is the application deadline for academic programs?

A: For fall semester – August 10th, for spring semester – November 30th.

Q: What is the fee structure for academic programs?

A: Prices are different for all programs. Detailed information on fee structure can be found at https://iliauni.edu.ge/en/international/tuition-fees-and-scholarships

Q: Can I pay in installments?

A: Generally, tuition fee is paid in advance. In particular cases it can be paid in 2 installments. Terms and conditions are regulated by the contract signed between the University and the student.

Q: What are the required documents for application?

A: For undergraduate applicants, the following documents are required:

  • ISU Application form
  • Copy of school - leaving (high school diploma or equivalent) certificate and it’s supplement (If any, with the list of subjects and grades)
  • Proof of English language proficiency
  • Copies of first page of the citizenship document
  • Photo
  • Application form for national Centre for Education Quality Enhancement
  • Application fee payment receipt

For graduate applicants, the following documents are required:

  • ISU Application form
  • Copy of school - leaving (high school diploma or equivalent) certificate and it’s supplement (If any, with the list of subjects and grades)
  • Proof of English language proficiency

Q: What are the language requirements?

A: An applicant must have a recognized English qualification aligned with CEFR level B2 to successfully apply.

The minimum English language requirements for BA and MA students are:

  • TOEFL: P/B 513-547; iBT  65 - 78 score
  • CBT 183-210
  • IELTS Academic (5.5-6 Bands)
  • FCE (A, B or C grades)
  • BEC Vantage (A, B or C grades)
  • PTE (General level 3)
  • PTE Academic (59-75 points)
  • Michigan (ECCE)

The English language requirement may be waived if the applicant is a native of or graduated from an English medium high school / university in countries, official language of which is English.

For other applicants, there are fixed English-language requirements to fulfill. An applicant must have a recognized English qualification aligned with CEFR level B2 to successfully apply. To prove the English qualification either one of the following must be submitted:

a) an official international language certificate (the main certificates and minimum scores accepted are given below)

b) an English Proficiency Statement from the university, high school or college, confirming that English was the language of instruction

c) a certificate issued by a local or international English language instruction provider (e.g. language school), confirming the acquisition of B2 level as a result of a language course attended

Or an applicant must take in-house institutional paper-based or online language test aligned with the CEFR level B2. Please send a request at international@iliauni.edu.ge in order to register for the test.

Q:  How much is the application fee?

A: The application fee is 100 USD and it’s non-refundable. Application fee includes translation and notary services, recognition of education and enrollment procedures.

Q: Is there any age limit for students to study at Ilia State University?

A: No, there is no age limit.

Q. What is the language of instruction?

A: The language of the programs offered for international students is English.

Q. Are these programs available online? 

A: No, the programs are not available online.

Q. What is the duration of the programs?

A: Undergraduate program duration is 4 years, graduate program duration – 2 years.

Q. Can I take these programs part-time?

A: No, all programs are full time.

Q: How long does the admission procedure take?

A: Admission procedure includes the following steps:

  • An applicant submits all necessary documents along with the application fee payment receipt or an applicant submits all necessary documents translated and notarized along with the recognition fee payment receipt paid directly to the National Centre for Educational Quality Enhancement (EQE) (recognition fee for EQE is 60 GEL)
  • University prepares all documents in order to send it to the EQE for recognition purposes which is the basis of the enrollment. This procedures takes approx. 14 business days.
  • When the recognition document is issued by the EQE, Ministry of Education and Science start the enrollment procedures which takes approx. 7 business days. After this procedure, Minister of Education and Science issues the decree on enrollment which will be sent to the University. 
  • When University gets decree on enrollment and the recognition document, University prepares contract for students which is signed by the both parties. According to the contract terms and conditions, student must pay the tuition fee during the 3 working days and send the signed version of the contract back to the University.
  • Once the contract is signed and tuition fee is paid, University issues the decree on enrollment of the applicant at the University for the corresponding program. 

Q: How do I check the status of my application?

A: Office of Foreign Relations communicates with an applicant to share all updates regarding his/her application. If an applicant wants to double check some information, he/she can send a request at international@iliauni.edu.ge. Mailbox is checked regularly during the business days from 10 am to 7 pm (GEO time).

Q: Do I have a permission to work while studying in Georgia?

A:  According to current regulations international students that have student visa/residence permit for Georgia can work in private companies. At the moment there is no OPT kind of program in Georgia, however some internship opportunities are always available.

Q: What are the average living expenses in Georgia, including   yearly insurance fees, monthly food cost, monthly residence cost and also any other fees/cost associated in the process?

A: The residence fees range from 200 to 400 USD per month. (Ilia State University offers affordable housing options in contracted hostels and apartments in Tbilisi, closer to the campus.) Around 200-300 USD per month is required to meet expenditures on food, transportation, cell phone and other personal needs.

Q: Where is it possible to obtain residence permit and what are the required documents?

A: In order to get a student residence permit, a student may apply to the Public Service Development Agency, Community Centers or Public Service Halls.

Required documents are:

  • Application form
  • Photocopy of a student’s travel document
  • Photocopy of the document evidencing the student’s legal stay in Georgia
  • Certificate issued by the educational institution authorized in Georgia confirming the student is studying at the institution
  • Document evidencing the legal income
  • Photo (3cm x 3cm)
  • Service fee payment service

Q: Is it possible to have a campus tour before enrollment?

A: Campus tour is available for all interested applicants willing to get additional information about Ilia State University. In order to plan campus tour at ISU, an applicant should send a request at international@iliauni.edu.ge. Mailbox is checked regularly during the business days from 10 am to 7 pm (GEO time).

Q: Does ISU recommend using agents/consultant agencies when applying?

A: All applicants can apply at ISU directly without using agency services. Herewith, ISU works with number of agents/consultant agencies and accepts applications sent by them. Information about agents/consultant agencies can be checked with the Office of Foreign Relations at international@iliauni.edu.ge in order to avoid any misunderstanding.
