Jose Maria Lopez Aznar
Jose Maria Lopez Aznar - Prime Minister of Spain during 1996-2004. Born on February 25, 1953 in Madrid. He graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid. He became interested in politics in the mid-1970s and in 1987 he was elected to the presidency of the regional branches of right-wing liberal party, "People's Alliance" in Castilla and Leone; In 1989 he was appointed as a deputy chairman of People's Party (Re-foundation of the People's Alliance), and as a chairman in 1990. Aznar became Prime Minister of Spain as a result of People's Party's winning of the parliamentary elections in 1996. His political course is being called "New conservatism".
