SOCIAL SCIENCES: POLITICAL SCIENCES, SOCIOLOGY, PSYCHOLOGY, EUROPEAN STUDIES

The aim of the programme:
Social Sciences is an interdisciplinary programme the aim of which is to provide students with extensive knowledge regarding different fields of social sciences, such as European Studies, Political Sciences, Sociology, Psychology and the interrelations between them, as well as get them familiar with the history of the development of social sciences, their research methods, theories and approaches and develop their skills to analyze, interpret and evaluate political, social and psychological phenomena and processes.
In addition, the programme includes the basic Bachelor’s degree module aiming to help students develop oral and written communication skills and abilities to analyze, evaluate and resolve problems as well as support their opinions with arguments.
The programme aims to get students familiar with the basic concepts, theories and methods of political sciences and develop their skills to analyze, study, explain and evaluate political phenomena and processes. The programme is also oriented on giving students knowledge regarding the interrelations between political sciences and other social sciences as well as humanities and develop their skills to comprehend political ideas, phenomena and processes from an interdisciplinary point of view.
Sociology aims to familiarize students with the history of the development of sociology, basic concepts, theories, approaches and research methods and to develop their skills to analyze social phenomena and processes, as well as interpret and evaluate them from the perspective of the discipline of sociology.
Psychology aims to familiarize students with main concepts, theories and methods of psychology, and develop their skills of creative thinking as well as abilities to analyze psychological phenomena and processes, study, explain and evaluate them. The programme also aims to equip the students with a knowledge regarding the interrelations between psychology and other sciences.
European studies is an interdisciplinary programme the purpose of which is to give students vast knowledge regarding the European society, its history, culture and values, as well as different aspects of its political processes. In addition, the programme aims to introduce the students with the ongoing processes in Europe from the perspectives of different disciplines.
